Hi!
My name is Bernadette and I’m a first year Food Tech student from Wellington. From my degree I plan on making my mark on the food industry by first starting work in a well recognised New Zealand owned company -one that is innovative and eco friendly. I want to be involved in making manufacturing processes safer for the environment, developing packaging that is more biodegradable, but most importantly, one that is producing products that are nutritious, tasty and affordable.
Eventually I would like to start my own company, producing a wide range of products that are organic, healthy and where the majority of ingredients are sourced from within New Zealand. I enjoy the outdoors, especially tramping and exploring the backcountry. So I intend to look at developing an affordable range of meals specifically designed for tramping, that have minimal weight and packaging; that provide the vital nutrition required, but do have “real” taste and texture.
A big thanks to Hubbards Foods Ltd for giving me a chance to make my ambitions into a reality, I’m looking forward to the challenges and rewards that this course will present to me.
